Welcome to Echo Addons.

Strange name, you might think, and you’d be right – its not a common one, for sure, but, this site started off life as a ham radio operators site. You see, back in 2005 I was still active on the scene but, like so many things in my life, this particular hobby has gone by the wayside. However, I decided to keep the name and turn in into a blog covering technology,business and, with the occasional nod to the old ham radio stuff as well – just for old times sake!

Who am I?

Well, my name is Robert Grimes and I am a 56 year old ex-navy radio engineer. Radio, telecoms and physics have been my life long passions and I have been lucky to use some of the best kit available in some of the most exciting times for the science.

These days though, things are a bit more sedate. I live with my wife and 2 black Labradors called Jax and Smudge in the rolling foothills of South Dakota. I haven’t lost my interest or passion for science though – something that I hope comes across in this blog.

So, if you share this passion and would like to share some knowledge, just chew the fat or bring something to my attention that I’ve missed – heaven forbid – then please, I encourage you to contact me and, better still, lets stay in touch.
